Why our challenge to you matters

One of the key goals of Novartis is to reimagine medicine. In 2017 we have invested 9bn USD in research and development, and have received regulatory approval for some ground breaking medical treatments.

In order for us to develop new treatments, we have to invest our resources wisely. We believe that big data can help us here, and we believe that you can help us steer big data to uncover the best solution!

Our challenge to you contains two parts:

Part 1 – Sales forecast for 2018

The dataset includes Jan 2012 – Dec 2017 anonymized data on sales, as well as Jan 2012 – Dec 2018 anonymized data on investments.
Your challenge is to forecast 2018 sales per country per brand and per month.
How close can you get to the real 2018 sales?

Part 2 – Resource Allocation for 2018

What would have been your best M&S 2018 allocation per investment type, per brand and per country, given the same total M&S spend? (=How would you redistribute M&S among countries and brands?)
What would have been your best M&S 2018 allocation per investment type, per brand and per country, assuming unlimited M&S resources available?
How innovative is your solution to our resource allocation challenge?
